Repairs and improvements

If you are over 60 and a home owner or private tenant with repairing obligations, our Care & Repair agencies may be able to offer support to help you to get your home repaired or improved.

Our service can range from simple advice and information over the telephone, for example the names of some reliable local builders, to a full casework and/or technical service. This could include any or all of the following:

• a visit from a technical officer who will advise on the extent of the work needed, draw up a schedule of work, prepare plans if necessary and apply for any permissions

• help to fill in all the necessary paperwork

• help to choose contractors and request quotations for the work.

For privately funded work we will charge a fee for the casework and/or technical service which would be agreed with you before you decide to go ahead.

Some of our agencies are also able to help clients access discretionary local authority funding (a loan or a grant), depending on availability.
